Examination and clean

A six monthly examination and cleaning appointment is vital to a good preventative dental care plan. Most patients will need to attend Novo Dental Studio every six months for their routine examination and cleaning appointment. These appointments are so important to ensure your teeth and gums are strong and healthy.

During this appointment we will take a digital impression of your mouth, so we have a 3D digital model of your teeth. Your teeth and gums will be assessed, and we will help fine tune any areas that you may need to pay some additional attention to with your brushing and flossing, before giving your teeth a clean and polish.

At Novo Dental Studio we recommend taking intra-oral bitewing x-rays every two years to check in between the teeth and under existing restorations. These x-rays will be taken during your examination and cleaning appointment.

Once the examination and clean have been completed, we will make a treatment plan for you with any areas of concern that require further dental treatment. Your treatment plan will include treatment options as well as pricing for the procedures.

Grinding and snoring solutions

Teeth grinding and snoring can be a sign of other medical issues including breathing obstruction, sinusitis or sleep apnoea. You may be referred to an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist for assessment.

Bruxism symptoms and signs can vary depend on nature, frequency, duration and force of excessive clenching and grinding and can include pain in teeth, sensitivity to hot and cold, chronic muscular facial pain, tension headaches, audible grinding noticed by partners, friends, flattened and worn tooth surfaces revealing underlying dentine, micro fractures in the tooth enamel, chipped or broken teeth, stiffness and pain in the jaw joint that can cause restricted opening and difficulty when chewing

Fissure Sealants

A fissure sealant is a preventative treatment usually done on children, that helps to prevent decay in the deep grooves or fissures of teeth. A fissure sealant is most effective when the adult molars have fully erupted. A fissure sealant covers the pits and fissures on the biting surface of the tooth creating a surface that is much easier to keep clean and less prone to bacteria and decay.
